Pregnancy Stage

Fertility & Getting Pregnant:
Nutrition Considerations and Meal Plans

Our dietitians will ensure that your meal plans meet your nutritional requirements as well as ensure that they are rich in important micronutrients that support fertility.

Being obese or overweight can also increase risk of health complications for mother and baby during pregnancy so healthy weight reduction may be encouraged. This does not mean that you need to be within the “healthy weight range”. Studies show that even a 5-10% reduction can improve health outcomes of mum and baby.

How we approach your meal plans:

Ensuring appropriate calories and macronutrients for your goals.
Balanced meal plans made based on Australian Guide to Healthy Eating recommendations.
Nutrients of relevance: Omega-3 fatty acids, Folate, Iodine, Vit D, Zinc, Iron, Antioxidants.
Emerging research shows that a healthy gut is conducive to good reproductive health so this is also something we’ll help support!
Monitoring other lifestyle factors such as physical activity, drinking etc.

Prenatal & Pregnancy:
Nutrition Considerations and Meal Plan

During your pregnancy, our main priority is to ensure the health and safety of you and your baby. Our dietitians will work closely with you during your check ins to monitor your progress and provide personalised support. We do not provide weight loss plans during pregnancy but will help you achieve controlled/ appropriate weight gain!

How we approach your meal plans:

Monitoring your weight carefully each fortnight and adjusting your calories to meet your increased energy requirements at each trimester to support the growth of your baby.
Symptom management (ie. heartburn, food aversions nausea and vomiting).
Ensure that your meal plans are safe from any food items that potentially have a risk of contamination.
Help adjust meal plans to ensure that they accommodate altering food preferences and tolerance throughout your pregnancy.

Pregnancy Stage

Postpatum and Breastfeeding:
Nutrition Considerations and Meal Plans

While you are breastfeeding, your energy requirements will be higher than usual to ensure that you’re eating enough to support your milk production and supply, as well as your recovery post pregnancy.

Whether your goal is weight loss, muscle gain or maintenance, our team will take into consideration your breastfeeding plan and adjust your calories and macronutrients as needed to ensure that your energy requirements are being met.

How we approach your meal plans:

Monitor your weight and ensure that you’re not losing weight or gaining weight too quickly.

Education around the consumption of alcohol and caffeine in relation to breastfeeding.
Monitor your milk supply and any changes.
Adjust your energy and macronutrient requirements as breastfeeding is weaned.
Adjust your meal plans according to any dietary changes that you or the baby might require.
Ensure that your meal plans are safe from any food items that potentially have a risk of contamination.
